Before she went to rehab at the age of 18, Demi Lovato was something of a wild child.
But while the pop star has been open about her struggles with alcohol abuse and depression, the 21-year-old star is only now beginning to truly open up about her drug use.
Speaking with “Access Hollywood,” Lovato admitted that even after she had a sober coach, she continued to abuse cocaine, even smuggling the illegal substance onto airplanes.
“I would smuggle it basically, and just wait until everyone in first class would go to sleep, and I would do it right there,” she said. “I’d sneak to the bathroom ant I’d do it. That’s how difficult it got, and that was even with somebody [with me]. I had a sober companion, somebody who was watching me 24/7, living with me. I was able to hide it from them as well.”
The "X Factor" star, who spent more than a year in a sober living house, adds that she got used to manipulating the people in her life “so that everything looked OK on the outside.”
