Though the death of Paul Walker has been confirmed, investigators are attempting to determine exactly how the star was killed.
Walker and the driver, Roger Rodas, were both killed when their vehicle struck a light pole and a tree. Rodas was the CEO of Walker’s company, Always Evolving.
A report by the LASD confirms that “Speed was a factor in the solo vehicle collision” of the red 2005 Porsche Carrera GT.
On Monday, the L.A. County Coroner announced that their autopsies are currently on hold, according to “The Hollywood Reporter.”
“The examinations are on hold today. Most likely pending identification efforts,” the statement said.
ABC News reports that the pair was at a fundraiser benefiting the victims of the typhoon in the Philippines.
The crash took place after they stepped away from the event, and “the impact of the crash was so great, a chunk of the car flew several feet into a nearby building, breaking a window.”
Walker leaves behind his daughter, Meadow, who turned 15 last month. His father told CBS Los Angeles of his son, “His heart was so open. I was proud of him every day of his life.”
