Maria Bello is the latest high-profile star to come out as gay.
The “Prisoners” actress opened up about her sexuality in a “New York Times” piece titled “Coming Out as a Modern Family.”
In the article, Bello explained that she has “never understood the distinction of ‘primary partner,’” sharing that she considers both the father of her child and her longtime girlfriend, Clare, to be her partners.
“My feelings for Clare aren’t the same as the butterflies-in-the-stomach, angst-ridden love I have felt before; they are much deeper than that,” she said. “As we grew closer, my desire for her grew stronger until, after a few months, I decided to share the truth of our relationship with my large, Italian-Polish, ‘traditional’ Philadelphia family.”
Bello adds that simply because her relationship with her son Jack’s father, Dan, is “nonsexual doesn’t make him any less of a partner.”
The star will next appear in the addiction drama “Strings,” opposite Josh Duhamel and Laura Dern.
