For the second time three years, Katie Couric will be leaving a network TV gig behind.
Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer confirmed rumors that Couric would be leaving ABC News to join Yahoo as global anchor.
“Starting in early 2014, Katie will lead a growing team of correspondents at Yahoo News who will cover the world’s most interesting stories and newsmakers,” Mayer wrote on Yahoo’s Tumblr page.
The journalist-turned-daytime host is said to be the new face of Yahoo News and will shoot feature stories for the site’s homepage.
Though the statement goes on to say that Couric “will continue to host her syndicated daytime talk show, “Katie,” the low-rated series is unlikely to make it to a third season.
“I’ve done pretty much everything else in television up until now – I hosted the ‘Today’ show, I anchored ‘CBS Evening News’ and I’ve done a syndicated show,” Couric herself told Deadline. “If you look at the next frontier where content is going and how people are consuming it, it is in the digital space.”
