Earlier this month, Brittany Murphy’s biological father announced that he had new evidence that his daughter’s death may have been a result of poison.
After his interview with “Good Morning America,” the late actress’s mother, Sharon Murphy, is speaking out in an open letter via “The Hollywood Reporter.”
In the letter, Sharon explains why she has stayed quiet in the wake of her daughter’s passing nearly four years ago on December 20, 2009.
Though she has “remained in seclusion in my mourning,” she says, “I have no choice now but to come forward in the face of inexcusable efforts to smear my daughter’s memory by a man who may be her biological father but was never a real father to her in her lifetime.”
Sharon claims that the man, Angelo Bertolotti, has made a series of “outrageous statements” over the past few years, but the comments alleging Brittany was murdered caused her to come forward.
She adds that his reported lab analysis of Brittany’s hair sample is less than reputable, adding that toxic mold in her home may have been the cause of death.
“Now I must stand up for her again. It is time for those who really knew and loved her to put those who want to exploit her on notice: Your lies will no longer be tolerated, and as long as I live, will continue to be exposed,” she concludes.
