Six months after taking home the top prize last season on “American Idol,” Candice Glover has released her first single.

The ballad, “Cried,” comes from her debut album, “Music Speaks,” which is expected to be released on February 18, 2014, according to the official press release.

The record “finds Glover mining inspiration from the legendary vocalists she’s long channeled in her own singing – Aretha Franklin, Patti LaBelle, Marvin Gaye, and Whitney Houston.”

The singer was crowned the most recent “American Idol” in May, beating out runner-up Kree Harrison.

Meanwhile, “Idol” will return for its 13th season this January with returning judges Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban, as well as Harry Connick Jr.

While he will no longer be serving on the panel, the show’s last remaining original judge, Randy Jackson, will stay on board as a mentor. Season 13 will kick off with a two-night premiere beginning Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 8pm.
