A Hail Mary pass won’t save USA’s “Necessary Roughness.”
The network has pulled the plug on the drama series after a modestly-rated third season, according to Deadline.
The series starred Callie Thorne as a sports psychologist for a fictional football team called the New York Hawks, with John Stamos joining the show’s now-final season as a new love interest.
“We are proud of this show and its writers, which had a unique ability to address topical subjects before they unfolded in real life on the sports pages,” a statement from USA reads (via Deadline).
In happier USA network news, a new promo for the “Psych: The Musical” has been released.
Before entering its eighth and likely final season next year, the show will air its two-hour musical episode on Sunday, December 15 at 9pm.
The new preview this month shows Gus’s dancing and Shawn’s (James Roday) singing in advance of the premiere next month.
