The rivalry between
Madonna and Lady Gaga extends from their music to their wallets, though the Material Girl has won the battle over the latter -- at least for this year.

Madonna was named Forbes magazine's highest paid musician for 2013, pocketing an estimated $125 million from the final dates of her MDNA World Tour, music and merchandise sales, her Material Girl clothing line and Truth or Dare fragrance.

Gaga came in second on the list with $80 million and is expected to be a force again next year thanks to her newly released "ARTPOP" album -- which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart this week -- and upcoming world tour.

Rounding out Forbes' Top 10 were: Bon Jovi, $79 million; Toby Keith, $65 million; Coldplay, $64 million; Justin Bieber, $48 million; Taylor Swift, $55 million; Elton John, $54 million; and Beyonce and Kenny Chesney, tied at $53 million.

The list spans income from June 1, 2012 to June 1, 2013, measuring reports from Nielsen SoundScan, Pollstar, the Recording Industry Association of America and other sources.
