Actor Maulik Pancholy has come out as a gay man.
In a new interview for the Out100, Pancholy opened up about his nearly decade-long relationship.
“I just celebrated my nine-year anniversary with my partner,” he tells “Out.” “It feels like a nice time to be celebrating something like that, especially on the heels of the DOMA and Prop 8 decisions.”
Pancholy is best known for playing Jack Donaghy’s doting assistant on “30 Rock” and Sanjay, a gay college student, on Showtime’s hit “Weeds.”
The actor also said he always knew he planned to be an actor and joked about the time he cut his hand as child.
“Instead of going for help and saying, ‘Hey, I cut my thumb, can I get a Band-Aid?’ I did a death scene in the bathroom. It was my big moment!” he told “Out.”
After a brief run on NBC’s now-cancelled “Whitney,” he returned for the final season of “30 Rock” and currently voices Sanjay on Nickelodeon’s “Sanjay and Craig,” which was recently renewed for a second season.
Other stars making the Out100 include Guillermo Diaz (“Scandal”), Sir Ian McKellen and “Glee” actor Jonathan Groff.
