With so many movies being released throughout the year, it can be hard to keep track. To help, check out our preview of the movies that are opening this weekend:
“Ender’s Game”: The futuristic thriller, based on the novel of the same name, takes place after an alien race called the Formics failed to take over Earth. The International Military, with the help of Harrison Ford’s Colonel Graff, is training the youth as the Formics prepare to try again. The movie centers on Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), who trains under the current leader, Commander Rackham (Ben Kingsley), to “lead his fellow soldiers into an epic battle that will determine the future of Earth and save the human race. Hailee Steinfeld, Viola Davis and Abigail Breslin also star. Rated PG-13.
“Free Birds”: This animated film is arriving just in time for Thanksgiving. According to the official release, “two turkeys from opposite sides of the tracks must put aside their differences and team up to travel back in time to change the course of history - and get turkey off the Thanksgiving menu for good.”Owen Wilson, Woody Harrelson and Amy Poehler are among the voice cast. Rated PG.
“Last Vegas”: Michael Douglas, Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman and Kevin Kline team up as four old friends since childhood who decide to take a trip to Vegas when Billy (Douglas), the last single one of the group, proposes to his much younger girlfriend, according to the film’s official site. Mary Steenburgen, Jerry Ferrara (“Entourage”), and Romany Malco (“Weeds”) also star in the film Rated PG-13.
