Kate Winslet has stayed under the radar over the past few years, but that’s no reason to discount her status as a dramatic powerhouse.

To prove it, the “Revolutionary Road” star will next hit the big screen in a drama called “Labor Day,” according to Deadline.

Winslet will play Adele, “a reclusive single mom whose 13-year-old son struggles to be the man of the house.”

They meet a man played by Josh Brolin, who convinces them to let him stay in their home but is in fact a fugitive on the run.

The film was written and directed by Jason Reitman, the Oscar-winning writer-director behind “Up in the Air” and “Thank You for Smoking,” in addition to directing Diablo Cody’s “Juno” and “Young Adult.”

“Labor Day” will debut in limited release in December before being released nationwide on January 31. What did you think of Kate’s performance in the trailer? Are you interested in seeing the film?
