While promoting the days-away release of “Artpop” in London, Lady Gaga got caught up in a peace offering gone very wrong.

After a performance on U.K.’s “The X Factor,” in which Kelly Osbourne’s mother, Sharon, is a judge, Gaga gave her a cake on behalf of Kelly’s birthday.

While Sharon tweeted that she was “Blown away by Lady Gaga’s performance and graciousness,” the gesture did not squash her daughter’s ongoing feud with the pop star, and instead, it seemed to fuel the fire. In response, Kelly lashed out on Twitter:

Once the cake got to her, Kelly also released a photo of it on Instagram with the caption “#EatMyS*** #Hypocrisy.”

Despite the messages, Mother Monster chose to take the high road, telling her fans, “Monsters, please just focus on the positive of tonight’s performance and do not send any hateful messages. I don’t support it. #SpreadLove.”

Instead of continuing the exchange, Gaga also released the latest in a long line of snippets from “Artpop,” this time with a new song called “Mary Jane Holland.”

Her actions seemed to have paid off, as Kelly apologized on Twitter Monday night, writing, "I acted like a child last night. Just not into publicity stunts call me & we will end this like adults I dont want 2 fight anymore."
