With awards season soon to be in full swing, the last-minute entries are making the rounds with new trailers.
The latest film is “The Book Thief,” an adaptation of Markus Zusak’s bestseller of the same name, according to Deadline.
“Thief” is centered on a young girl “in Nazi Germany who seeks refuge in books while her family hides a young Jewish man in the basement of their modest home.”
Based on the newly-released international trailer, it’s unclear whether the drama has abandoned the novel’s signature conceit, that the story is narrated by Death.
Canadian newcomer Sophie Nelisse plays the girl in question, Liesel Meminger, starring alongside Geoffrey Rush (“Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise) and Emily Watson (“War Horse”).
Though it is set for a January release in the U.K., “The Book Thief” will make its stateside debut in theaters on November 8. What did you think of the trailer? Share your opinions in the comments!
