Television is the place to be for working actors these days. Just ask Oscar winner Halle Berry, who has just signed on the star in a new drama for CBS.
“Extant,” executive produced by Steven Spielberg, will star Berry as an astronaut who has just returned to Earth, according to E! News.
After her year-long space mission, she “struggles to reconnect with her husband and son while also grappling with her experiences in space that will ultimately change the course of human history.”
“For five months a year I’ll get to live with and play this incredibly intelligent and vulnerable woman, and for the remainder I’ll continue to look for other roles that move me as deeply as this one,” Berry said in a statement.
Berry’s other co-stars have not yet been cast, but one person who is sure the project will be a success is Spielberg himself, as he said in a statement:
“As she does with everything she touches, she will bring a deep authenticity to her role and I very much look forward to working with her.”
“Extant” received a straight-to-series order earlier this year and the show is set to join “Under the Dome” and “Unforgettable” on CBS next summer.
