While the world continues to mourn the loss of prolific author Tom Clancy, Hollywood never stops moving.
The first official trailer for “Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit,” based on a novel by Clancy himself, has made its debut only a few days after the announcement of the writer’s death.
Though Clancy sold more than 50 million copies of his political thrillers across the world before his death at the age of 66, he is known in the film industry for writing the source material for great films like “The Hunt for Red October,” “ and “The Sum of All Fears.”
In the new film, Chris Pine plays the titular Jack Ryan, whose in past incarnations has been played by Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck and Alec Baldwin.
Yet according to the official synopsis, this “Jack Ryan” is an original story not based on Clancy’s novels, instead following the CIA analyst who must become a spy, “while also trying to protect the thing that’s more important to anything, his relationship with his fiancée Cathy (Keira Knightley).”
“Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit” will be released on December 25, 2013.
