Leah Remini is one of the highest-profile new celebs to sign on “Dancing with the Stars” for season 17, in no small part due to her much-publicized ousting from the Church of Scientology.
The outspoken star isn’t shying away from the topic either, opening up about her departure from the church in only “DWTS”’s second week, according to “The Hollywood Reporter.”
“The church is looking for me to fail,” she said, “So they can say, ‘Look what happens when you leave.”
The former “The Talk” co-host also joked about leaving Scientology during an appearance on longtime friend Chelsea Handler’s late night series, “Chelsea Lately.”
After Chelsea made a crack about hearing that her pal had left the Catholic church, Leah responded sarcastically, “Oh, is that what you heard?”
Leah and Chelsea also lamented the fact that some of her “DWTS” competitors, namely Corbin Bleu, Amber Riley and Elizabeth Berkley, have more dance experience than the others.
Still, she and partner Tony Dovolani showed marked improvement on Monday night’s episode, likely saving her from being eliminated in week 3.
