Christina Aguilera: “The Voice” Return Was Like “My 1st Day Back at School”
“The Voice” returns for its fifth season on Monday and Tuesday night, and it appears as if the show is introducing a brand new Christina.
According to “The Hollywood Reporter,” a svelte Christina Aguilera spoke to the press about taking last season off to live “outside of the bubble of this red chair” and how it could be to her advantage this season.
“Right now I’m in an interesting place,” she said. “It’s learning how to better care for and protect and nurture yourself. And I’m giving these kids that coaching advice on my team this year, and I’m trying to get them to step, sometimes, away from the competition of it.”
The singer added that there was little pressure in rejoining fellow coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Cee Lo Green, who also sat out last season.
“I know this might sound a little probably cliché when I go, ‘You’re brothers, you’re family.’ But it’s really the truth,” Christina added. “I felt like coming back was like my first day back at school.”
Xtina and Cee Lo are expected to sit out the spring cycle as well, with SHakira and Usher stepping back in for season 6.
