Marvel could be making good on their plans to put more women at the forefront of their upcoming projects.
According to “The Hollywood Reporter,” the entertainment comic is planning a new scripted TV series based on Hayley Atwell’s character from “Captain America: The First Avenger.”
“Agent Carter,” based on a short included on the "Iron Man 3" DVD, would follow Carter in Captain America’s absence “as she builds her career as a secret agent while the hero is frozen in ice.”
After the events of the 2011 film, which took place during World War II, Captain America awakened in the present to fight alongside Marvel’s “The Avengers.”
Chris Evans will also return as the patriotic hero in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” though he’s getting a new love interest, possibly in the form of Carter own niece, Agent 13, played by Emily VanCamp (“Revenge”).
Though no deals are in place for either the cast or the network, it’s possible that the project could land at ABC like the upcoming “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” as ABC and Marvel are both owned by Disney.
Would you watch “Agent Carter”? Are you looking forward to the premiere of “S.H.I.E.L.D” next Tuesday?
