“Mad Men” is taking a cue from another AMC series, “Breaking Bad,” and airing its final season in two halves.
The first half of the 14-episode season 7 will air in spring 2014, with the final 7 episodes rolling out in 2015, according to the “Los Angeles Times.”
“We plan to take advantage of this chance to have a more elaborate story told in two parts, which can resonate a little bit longer in the minds of our audience,” creator Matthew Weiner explained. “The writers, cast and other artists welcome this unique manner of ending this experience.”
While “Breaking Bad” is finishing up its five-season run the same way, with the final episode airing on Sunday, September 22, it’s hardly the first series to set an end date.
After the creators of “Lost” made the decision to run for three more seasons after their third, the practice has been popularized, recently with “How I Met You Mother” announcing their final season would premiere this fall.
Do you think this is a smart decision for “Mad Men” or are you just “mad” you have to wait until 2015 to see how it all ends?
