Hollywood has “Great Expectations” once again.
The latest adaptation of the classic Charles Dickens novel actually comes from the U.K., with an all-star cast that includes Ralph Fiennes as Magwitch and Helena Bonham Carter as Miss Havisham.
“Great Expectations” follows the story of a young orphan named Pip who is taken in by a wealthy but mysterious benefactor.
The cast also includes Jeremy Irvine (“War Horse”) as Pip, along with Holliday Grainger, who will soon become more widely known in the states when she stars as one-half of “Bonnie & Clyde” opposite Emile Hirsch, which will air simultaneously on Lifetime, History and A&E.
The film will first debut in New York and Los Angeles on November 8, though a wider release has not yet been announced.
What did you think of the trailer? In your opinion, what is the best adaptation of “Great Expectations” you’ve ever seen?
