NBC will soon be filled with the sound of music!
The network has revealed more details about their upcoming live musical performance of the classic “The Sound of Music.”
For those who haven’t heard, the live presentation stars “American Idol” alum Carrie Underwood as Maria, while “True Blood” star Stephen Moyer will play Captain Georg Von Trapp.
Ahead of its December debut, the show has expanded its cast to include three more Broadway heavyweights.
According to Zap2it, “Private Practice” star Audra McDonald will join two familiar NBC faces: Laura Benanti (“Go On”) and Christian Borle (“Smash”).
McDonald will play mentor to Maria as Mother Abbess, with Benanti as Elsa Schrader and Borle as Max Dettweiler.
NBC has also debuted the first poster of the live show, spotlighting the casting of Underwood in the main role. The tagline reads: “The beloved family classic comes alive again!”
