ton John will pay tribute to another great pianist this fall: the one and only Liberace.

After Michael Douglas triumphed in his portrayal of the flashy superstar in HBO’s “Behind the Candelabra,” the “Tiny Dancer” singer will honor him at the 2013 Primetime Emmy Awards later this month.

Candelabra has garnered 15 Emmy nominations, including outstanding miniseries or movie and nominations for both Douglas and Matt Damon, who played the late Liberace’s lover, Scott Thorson, in the film.

This year’s Emmys will again be hosted by Neil Patrick Harris, who is looking forward to the performance by John, a close friend.

“We have a great performance by Sir Elton John,” Harris said. “He’s a friend and also super-talented. His new album is coming out and is amazing, so I’m looking forward to that.”

John has a new album called “The Diving Board,” his first LP in seven years, due out just two days after the Emmys on September 24.

The Emmy Awards will air on Sunday, September 22 at 8pm on CBS.
