With so many movies being released throughout the year, it can be hard to keep track. To help, check out our preview of the movies that are opening this weekend:
“Riddick”: Vin Diesel returns in the long-delayed sequel to “Pitch Black” and “The Chronicles of Riddick,” marking the first big budget film of the fall. According to the official release, Diesel plays an escaped convict named Riddick, who “finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he’s encountered.” Still, this time, the bounty on his head is personal, and Riddick is in a race for his life. Karl Urban (FOX’s “Almost Human”), Katee Sackhoff (“Longmire”) and “Awkward” star Nolan Funk co-star.
“Ain’t Them Bodies Saints”: Casey Affleck and Rooney Mara play a Bonnie & Clyde-style couple who go on a crime spree in the ‘70s before being captured by Texas lawmen after a shootout. Four years go by before Bob (Affleck) “escapes from prison and sets out to find Ruth (Mara) and their daughter, born during his incarceration.” The film, which is out in limited release and is being called “a story of love, motherhood and searching for peace while faced with an unrelenting past,” also stars Ben Foster and Keith Carradine (“Dexter”).
