The doctors on “Grey’s Anatomy” will be in the eye of the storm when the series returns for its 10th season premiere later this month.
ABC released the first trailer for the upcoming two-hour premiere events, which left off with a possibly dead Richard Webber following an electrical accident.
Also in the promo, the soon-to-be departing Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh) exerts her influence over her former boss, Dr. Miranda Bailey, as she is now part owner of Grey Sloane Memorial Hospital.
Though Oh announced her departure from the series, which will take place at the end of season 10, don’t expect her on-again-off-again boyfriend, Owen (Kevin McKidd), to have a happy ending.
“I wrestled with it a little bit because I thought it might be nice to have Cristina and Owen walk off into the sunset together,” McKidd told “TV Guide.” “But for whatever reason that it’s obviously the right moment for Sandra to [leave], for me, it isn’t.”
The actor added he is open to exploring more sides to Owen because he joined the series later in its run, unlike the core cast, including Oh and series leads Ellen Pompeo and Patrick Dempsey, though the latter also said “it’s worth having a discussion” about returning for season 11.
“Grey’s Anatomy” returns with its two-hour season premiere on Thursday, September 26 at 9pm on ABC.
