After 13 years together, Catherine Zeta-Jones and her husband Michael Douglas have reportedly split.
“People” reports that the pair is “taking a break,” but no action has been taken in the way of filing for a divorce or legal separation.
The past three years have been difficult for both halves of the couple, with Douglas battling throat cancer and the incarceration of his son, Cameron, while Zeta-Jones was diagnosed with bipolar II disorder.
The stress has taken a toll on their marriage,” an insider told “People.”
Still, friends of the family hope the A-list stars can reconcile, both for themselves and for the two children they share, 13-year-old Dylan and 10-year-old Carys.
“They want the best for their kids, no matter what happens,” another source said.
Both stars have been busy this year, returning to the acting spotlight. Douglas earned an Emmy nomination for his turn as Liberace in HBO’s “Behind the Candelabra,” while Zeta-Jones starred in “Side Effects” and this summer’s “Red 2.”
