For years, rumors of an “Arrested Development” feature film continued to circulate before the cast finally reunited for a fourth season on Netflix this year.
Now, it seems like the fans might get their wish for an “Arrested Development” movie as well, with creator Mitch Hurwitz telling “Rolling Stone” that he’s already developing the script.
“I’m working on the movie right now,” Hurwitz said. “I can’t get into much more detail because I don’t want to scare anybody off. I don’t want to be presumptuous about it. I don’t own the property outright… But everybody seems really into it and really eager to make a movie.”
While the writer explained that committing to another season would be challenging for the busy cast, because it’s roughly a six-month commitment, filming a movie might only take four or five weeks.
Though plot details are sparse, series star Jason Bateman recently told TVLine that as he understands it, “This [season is] just 15 episodes that serve as Act 1 of a three-act story. Those other two acts will be in the future; whether they’re a movie or back on Netflix, I don’t know.”
