Simon Cowell is speaking out for the first time about being an expectant father.
“I’m proud to be a dad,” he told the BBC in a new interview. “It’s something I hadn’t thought of before, but now I know I feel good about it.”
The “X Factor” coach has been involved in the high-profile split between Andrew Silverman, a former friend of the talent judge who claimed that Cowell’s affair with his wife, Lauren Silverman, was responsible for their separation.
The couple has since officially divorced, and though Cowell has now confirmed that he and Lauren are expecting a child together, he was vague on where there relationship stands.
“Things are changing in my life right now, for the better,” he said, adding, “[Lauren]’s a very special girl.”
The only other time Cowell publicly referenced the scandal was during a panel promoting season 3 of “The X Factor,” when he said he had to keep his thoughts “private” until “the time is right.”
