Shailene Woodley
is shaking up her look.

However, rather than simply debuting a new haircut or hair color, this star is getting made over for a cause.

For her role in “The Fault in Our Stars,” an adaptation of John Green’s bestseller, Woodley is chopping off her brunette locks for her role as a teenager living with cancer, according to EW.

While she will not be shaving her head for the role, the up-and-comer is donated her long tresses to Children with Hair Loss to be made into a wig and is now sporting a bob.

Woodley first revealed her new ‘do online, tweeting a photo of her lopped-off “hair nubbins” and later writing:

The actress urged her fans to consider doing the same on Tumblr, adding, “If you are in the position to cut off 8 inches of your hair, then I strongly urge you to do it. There are so many human beings out there who would LOVE the opportunity to possess long hair, but simply cannot because of their current situation. Let’s share!”

“The Fault in Our Stars” is set for release in 2014.
