Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler are headed on a “Familymoon” for their latest rom-com collaboration, and it looks like a “Bridesmaid” is coming along for the ride.
“The Wrap” reports that Barrymore and Sandler, who previously co-starred opposite one another in “The Wedding Singer” and “50 First Dates,” will play a couple “whose disastrous blind date lands them at a family resort with their children from previous marriages.”
Wendi McLendon-Covey, who played Maya Rudolph’s outrageous cousin Rita in “Bridesmaids,” has joined the upcoming romantic comedy “The Familymoon” as the best friend to Barrymore’s character.
Chelsea Handler was originally set for the role, though it was not revealed why McLendon-Covey is taking her place in the film.
“Community” actor Joel McHale will also co-star in the film, playing Barrymore’s ex-husband and father of her children.
“The Familymoon,” which was originally titled “Blended,” will begin shooting this month for a 2014 release.
