Actress Eileen Brennan passed away over the weekend at the age of 80.

The iconic star died in a hospice facility in Burbank, California on Sunday, following a battle with bladder cancer, a rep for Brennan tells “The Wrap.” She is survived by two sons, Sam and Patrick, and two grandchildren, Liam and Maggie.

Brennan was known for her roles of Genevieve in 1971’s “The Last Picture Show” and Captain Doreen Lewis “Private Benjamin,” for which she was nominated for Oscar in ’81.

When CBS adapted the film into a television series, the actress followed and played Capt. Doreen throughout the show’s three-season run, earning a Golden Globe for her performance.

Brennan was a talented character actress who also had memorable turns as Mrs. Peacock in “Clue” and Jack’s curmudgeonly acting coach, Zandra, on “Will & Grace.”

Though she didn’t act much after 2006, she continued to earn praise for her roles on “7th Heaven” and was rewarded with an Outstanding Guest Actress Emmy nomination for her work on “W&G.”
