Everyone knows the story of “Romeo & Juliet,” but that doesn’t make the latest adaptation of one of William Shakespeare’s most iconic works look any less exciting.
According to NME, “True Grit” star Hailee Steinfeld plays Juliet opposite Douglas Booth (“Pillars of the Earth”) in the new incarnation, which was penned by “Downton Abbey” creator Julian Fellows. Ahead of the fall release for “Romeo & Juliet,” a brand new trailer for the film has just dropped:
The most recent big budget adaptation of the play was Baz Luhrmann’s 1996 visually modern take, “Romeo + Juliet,” which starred Claire Danes and Luhrmann fave Leonardo DiCaprio in the title roles.
The new version, which also stars Paul Giamatti, Damian Lewis (“Homeland”) and “Gossip Girl” star Ed Westwick, reverts back to a more traditional take on Shakespeare.
“Romeo & Juliet” will open nationwide on October 11.
