Paul Feig definitely wants to be in the Melissa McCarthy business.
The director of “Bridesmaids” and “The Heat” wants the in-demand actress to play the title role in his next film, currently titled “Susan Cooper.”
Not much is known about the film, other than that McCarthy would star as a female spy in the upcoming film, according to The Wrap.
Though the movie is a comedy in the vein of “The Heat,” Feig is said to be looking to create a realistic James Bond-style film with a female lead.
The megadirector has been open about his desire to create more starring roles for women in Hollywood, and he seems to be interested in recreating the success he’s had with McCarthy in his last two movies.
McCarthy herself has stepped into the role of director for the upcoming film “Tammy,” which she co-wrote and also stars in alongside Susan Sarandon and Allison Janney.
