Looks like the people of Chester’s Mill are going to be stuck under that dome for quite some time.

Deadline reports that the summer’s most-watched TV hit, based on the Stephen King bestseller of the same name, will return for a second season next summer.

CBS made the announcement today at a Television Critics Association panel today, also revealing that King himself will write the season two premiere.

Though “Under the Dome” was touted by CBS as an “event series,” strong ratings during the summer, a traditionally-difficult period to launch new shows, made the renewal a no-brainer for the network.

The series centers on a group of people in a small town who become trapped under an enormous dome and follows their struggles as they try to survive long enough to escape.

Mike Vogel (“Bates Motel”), Rachelle Lefevre (“Twilight”) and “Breaking Bad” star Dean Norris star.

“Under the Dome” airs Mondays at 10pm on CBS. Are you loving the small town of Chester's Mill? What do you think of the season 2 renewal?
