With so many movies being released throughout the year, it can be hard to keep track. To help, check out our preview of the movies that are opening this weekend:
Top Pick: Hugh Jackman returns as “The Wolverine” in his fifth appearance in the “X-Men” franchise, including the trilogy and his first standalone film, “X-Men Origins: Wolverine.” This time, Wolverine heads to Japan to face foes both old and new, while finally dealing with the loss of Jean Gray (Famke Janssen), who comes to him in his dreams. While the X-Men will reunite in next year’s “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” it’s always good to see Wolverine back on the big screen.
“The To Do List”: This raunchy R-rated comedy has been called the antidote to the bawdy teenage boy comedies like “American Pie” or “Superbad.” “Parks & Recreation” star Aubrey Plaza stars as a high school valedictorian who makes it her mission to get more “romantic” experience before heading off to college. With a wonderful cast that includes Rachel Bilson (“Hart of Dixie”), “Saturday Night Live” stars Andy Samberg and Bill Hader, Connie Britton (“Nashville”) and “Arrested Development” star Alia Shawkat, “The To Do List” could end up being a sleeper hit, but it’s certainly not a film to see with the kids.
