It’s a classic case of “you always want what you can’t have” for “Fifty Shades of Grey” author E.L. James this week.
“Us Weekly” reports that potential star Garrett Hedlund (“Country Strong”) rejected the offer to play Christian Grey in the book’s upcoming film adaptation.
Signing on to a film trilogy was “too big a commitment” for Hedlund, the 28-year-old beau of Kirsten Dunst, with an insider telling “Us” that the “producers wouldn't let him do just one film.”
In other “Fifty Shades” news, E.L. James has readily dismissed the idea of the Vampire Diaries’ Ian Somerhalder taking on the role, despite the 34-year-old actor’s recent campaign to play the steamy book’s protagonist in the film.
Unfortunately for Somerhalder, James announced at a July 20th Comic-Con party that the actor will not be offered the part.
Though “Fifty Shades” fans across the globe are eager to know who will be cast in the risqué role, it looks to us like E.L. James enjoys the chase. With hunks like Hedlund and Somerhalder in the running, we certainly can’t blame her.
