Just because “The Heat” was one of the most successful movies of the summer, doesn’t mean the stars are rushing to make a sequel.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the A-list star said that despite earning the film’s critical and commercial success, she has no plans to sign on for a sequel.
“I know they say never say never, but right now, I can’t imagine it,” she said. “I don’t want to ruin what Melissa [McCarthy] and I had. If a miracle happens where [a script] shows up that really and truly outdid the first and provided an experience that was better than the first time, then I would look at it.”
The actress, who has starred in critically-panned sequels to hits like “Miss Congeniality” and “Speed,” took the opportunity to crack a joke about her past experience with follow-up films.
“If you look back on my illustrious sequel work, nothing has proven successful,” she added. “A sequel is such a daunting thing, because you don’t want to lose the magic and the charm of the first one.”
Bullock will next return to drama territory alongside George Clooney with the release of “Gravity,” a survival thriller set in space that is due out in October.
