Fergie is changing her name, but don’t worry, you can still call her “The Dutchess.”
“TMZ” reports that the 38-year old singer is taking the last name of her husband, actor Josh Duhamel, 40.
After announcing several months ago that she is pregnant with the couple’s first child, Fergie has filed the papers with the L.A. County Superior Court to “conform to the first name she is commonly and professionally known as, and has been for many years,” her lawyer tells TMZ.
Born Stacy Ann Ferguson, the pop singer has been known professionally as Fergie since she rose to fame in the Black Eyed Peas” with 2003’s “Where Is the Love?”
A hearing is scheduled for August 16, before which the songstress must place an ad in a local newspaper for four weeks in a row.
Before announcing her pregnancy, the singer revealed to E! News that she had begun work on her sophomore solo effort, a follow-up to “The Dutchess” from 2006, which reached the second spot on the Billboard 200 and produced hits like “Fergalicious” and “London Bridge.”
“It’ll come,” Fergie told E!, adding, “ Now when is something I can’t promise, but when it’s ready. I just want it to be great. I don’t want to rush anything.”
We wish Ferg the best during the next few months of her pregnancy and can’t wait to her next single! Follow Fergie on Twitter @Fergie or catch her hubby @joshduhamel.
