Rumors are swirling about who will star in the much-anticipated thriller “Gone Girl.”
Casting for the film adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s bestselling novel has begun, with Ben Affleck is in early negotiations for the role of Nick, “The Wrap” reports.
The book follows the twisty story of Nick Dunne, a man who may or may not have killed his wife, Amy. As for who will play Affleck’s leading lady in “Gone Girl,” Natalie Portman, Emily Blunt and Charlize Theron in the running for the film’s title role.
Though A-lister Reese Witherspoon is a producer on the film, it has been confirmed that she will not play female protagonist Amy Dunne.
David Fincher, who recently helmed “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” and “The Social Network” to critical acclaim, has signed on to direct.
“Gone Girl” took the world by storm when it was released last year, topping the New York Times hardcover fiction best-seller list for eight weeks and selling more than two million copies in its first six months alone. Flynn’s next novel is set for 2015, with “Gone Girl” eyeing a release sometime next year.
