Elisabeth Hasselbeck is trading “The View” for Fox News.
TVLine reports (via “The New York Post”) that the longtime co-host will make her last appearance on the daytime talker after a decade on Wednesday, June 10 before heading over to the “Fox & Friends.”
Hasselbeck will co-host the daily morning show alongside Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade. According to TVLine, the show’s current female co-host, Gretchen Carlson, will transition to hosting a one-hour daytime show.
“When Elisabeth survived ‘Survivor’ we wanted to make sure she would stay afloat,” the show’s creator and co-host Barbara Walters said in a statement. “We have had 10 wonderful years with her and now she will be swimming in new waters. We will miss her and wish her everything good.”
Co-host Joy Behar announced she will also exit the series before the upcoming season after more than 16 years, and the 83-year-old Walters is set to retire from TV next summer.
That means “The View” is on the verge of having an almost-entirely revamped panel, leaving only moderator Whoopi Goldberg and co-host Sherri Shepherd from the show's current lineup.
As previously reported, Hasselbeck’s rumored replacement is Brooke Shields, with Jenny McCarthy named as Behar’s possible successor. It is unclear how the series will deal with Hasselbeck’s immediate departure, with an alternating set of guest co-hosts a likely possibility until deals have been inked.
