“The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones” is poised to become the next “Hunger Games” upon its release next month, but the producers are also taking a page out of Katniss’s book when it comes to the film’s soundtrack.
Just as “The Hunger Games” featured original songs from top artists like Taylor Swift and Maroon 5, the fantasy film’s soundtrack includes a number of new songs from artists like Jessie J, Demi Lovato and Colbie Caillat.
Ahead of the soundtrack’s debut on August 20, "Entertainment Weekly" has an exclusive first-listen at a Caillat’s new track called “When the Darkness Comes.”
The film is an adaptation of Cassandra Clare's young adult book series stars up-and-comer Lily Collins (“The Blind Side,” “Mirror Mirror”) as Clary Fray, a normal high school student who discovers that comes from a line of angel-like warriors named Shadowhunters, according to the film’s official site.
Clary’s discovery sets her on a path that brings her into an alternate New York dimension filled with vampires, werewolves, demons and more. “City of Bones” also features Jamie Campbell Bower (“Camelot”), Jonathan Rhys Meyers and “Game of Thrones” actress Lena Headey.
