They say that icons never die, and that’s proving to be true, as it seems nothing can stop the legendary Elizabeth Taylor and her beau, Richard Burton, from gracing the silver screen.
According to “The Hollywood Reporter,” BBC America has released the initial trailer for “Burton and Taylor,” a new TV movie set to air later this year.
The film follows the couple's rocky relationship, this time during the production of their play, "Private Lives," in 1983.
Helena Bonham Carter is the latest actress stepping into the shoes of the iconic Elizabeth Taylor, with Dominic West (“The Wire,” “300”) set to play Taylor’s two-time husband, Richard Burton.
Carter is best known for her work over the years starring opposite Johnny Depp, starring in films like “Alice in Wonderland,” “Sweeney Todd” and “Charlie & the Chocolate Factory,” all of which were directed by her husband, Tim Burton. She also appears in this summer’s reboot of “The Lone Ranger.”
Another television film, “Liz & Dick,” starring Lindsay Lohan as Liz Taylor, debuted on Lifetime last year to so-so ratings and mostly negative reviews.
“Burton and Taylor” will premiere this fall on BBC America. Check out the trailer yourself and share your thoughts below. How does Helena Bonham Carter’s performance stack up to Lindsay’s?
