When the news hit yesterday that the late Michael Jackson's daughter had been hospitalized, rumors took the internet by storm, yet it was unclear what had really happened.
But according to an official E! News press release, Jackson became deeply upset after a fight with her brother, Prince Michael, over her decision to attempt to establish contact with her mother, Debbie Rowe.
The release quotes a source saying that Jackson’s grandmother, Katherine Jackson, cautiously accepted the decision, but Paris’s brother, Prince Michael, wants no contact with their biological mother.
“She’s a young girl and having a female mother figure has been something she has desired for a slong as she can remember, but it has caused problems in the family,” the source told E! News.
The source added that Prince wants nothing to do with Rowe and doesn’t get his sister’s need to rebuild a relationship with her. The sibling’s fighting worsened because Paris believed her brother would change his mind as he got older.
"He does not understand why Paris is so intent on rebuilding the relationship. He does not feel a bond with Debbie and feels like it would betray Katherine in some way."
ABC News reports that Jackson’s family spoke out about the incident, with her uncles, Jackie, Marlon and Tito Jackson, releasing a joint statement about her condition.
“Thank you for the outpouring of concern and support for Paris. She is safe and doing fine,” they said in the statement. “We truly appreciate you respecting our family’s privacy at the time.”
